VERRE ÉGLOMISÉ

The Verre Églomisé (gilding) technique refers to applying gold or silver leaves to glass, objects and mirrors. It requires manual work, patience in the making, infinite precision, where the ultimate beauty is the reward that accompanies this glass processing technique.

Gilding is done by attaching silver, gold or other metal leaves using a gelatin glue which, after steaming, results in a mirror-like, reflective finish.

The design can be done using different techniques, such as reverse painting, before gilding or engraving the design into the gilded layer – and even into the glass itself.
